About the Role

A specialist fit out and refurb contractor is looking to recruit a Buyer to join its team in Oldham. Reporting to the Commercial Director, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day procurement of materials, plant and subcontractor packages, supporting multiple projects from enquiry through to completion.

 

The business delivers high-quality fit out, refurb and construction projects across the hospitality, leisure, retail and commercial sectors throughout the UK. With an established in-house joinery workshop, you'll also procure materials to support both site operations and manufacturing, working closely with the commercial, project, workshop and site teams.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Raise and process purchase orders
  • Obtain and compare supplier quotations to achieve the best value for projects
  • Negotiate with suppliers on pricing, lead times and availability
  • Procure materials, plant, subcontractor packages and workshop materials
  • Coordinate deliveries to ensure materials arrive in line with project and workshop programmes
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Work closely with the commercial, project, workshop and site teams to understand procurement requirements
  • Review drawings and specifications to support material procurement
  • Monitor supplier performance and delivery schedules
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and purchasing documentation
  • Support cost control and identify opportunities to improve value across the supply chain

Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience as a Buyer or within a procurement role in the construction industry
  • Experience procuring construction materials, plant and subcontractor packages
  • Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Confident communicator with strong relationship-building skills
  • Experience within a main contractor or fit out environment would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of fit out, refurb or construction projects would be beneficial
